Galaxy defeated, Vancouver beat Montreal

Sunday 11 March 2012.– Defending Major League Soccer champions the Los Angeles Galaxy suffered a 3-1 defeat to Real Salt Lake in their season opener at the Home Depot Center on Saturday night. The Galaxy fielded a strong line-up and took the lead early in the second half, David Beckham's superb pass setting up Edson Buddle to head home the breakthrough goal in the 71st minute.
But Sean Franklin's own goal levelled things up moments later and then Javier Morales and Fabian Espindola completed the turnaround for Salt Lake, who lost to Los Angeles in last season's Western Conference final.
Elsewhere, a goal at the start of each half from Sebastien Le Toux and Camilo da Silva saw the Vancouver Whitecaps spoil the Montreal Impact's MLS debut by winning 2-0 at BC Place. Chris Wondolowski's 15th-minute strike edged the San Jose Earthquakes past the NE Revolution 1-0, while substitute CJ Sapong netted a last-gasp winner as Sporting Kansas City triumphed 1-0 at DC United.
Finally, a goal in each half from Drew Moor and substitute Quincy Amarikwa earned the Colorado Rapids a 2-0 success against the Columbus Crew.
